In the tense international context, the Romanian Army has a busy agenda for 2026, including mobilizations of reservists and the conduct of over 100 training exercises. These exercises aim to increase the reaction capacity and support the deterrence posture on NATO's Eastern Flank. Among the most important exercises are HISTRIA 26, DACIA 26, and LAND SHIELD 26, which focus on training forces in various scenarios. Additionally, the exercises SEA SHIELD 26, STEADFAST DETERRENCE 26, and BUREBISTA 26 will contribute to the development of operational capabilities.
The purpose of these activities includes maintaining the level of preparedness, improving interoperability with allied forces, and contributing to collective security. Last year, approximately 10,000 reservists were mobilized for MOBEX-type exercises, demonstrating the Romanian Army's commitment to regional stability.
