Marius Voineag, chief prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), reacted to the revelations in the Recorder documentary, which claims that justice in Romania is captured by political interests and groups of magistrates. Voineag stated that justice must be carried out with professionalism and conscience, not under public or private pressure. He rejected the use of DNA for police payments or discrediting the justice system, emphasizing that issues in justice must be addressed objectively.
Voineag mentioned that the activity of DNA has been validated by international evaluations, including by the European Commission. The Recorder documentary, titled "Captured Justice", has been criticized by leaders of the judiciary, including the head of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, Lia Savonea, who denounced the delegitimization campaigns based on unfounded accusations. The Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, acknowledged that measures must be taken institutionally and objectively.
