Lia Savonea, the president of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, responded to the accusations in the Recorder documentary 'Captured Justice', emphasizing that she will not legitimize ambiguities and insinuations, even if they come from within the judicial system. In a statement to HotNews, Savonea accused the existence of a campaign to delegitimize leaders in justice, based on anonymous statements and unproven accusations. She mentioned that she is carefully analyzing the situation of the judicial system and that she will not intervene hastily, having the obligation to document all aspects before reacting publicly. She also emphasized that the controversial promotions in the leadership of the Bucharest Court of Appeal are related to her career, having a rapid rise in the judicial system, despite her previous rejection by the CSM. Savonea was recently appointed head of the ICCJ, the supreme court in Romania.
