The rare conjunction of Venus-Jupiter, visible from Romania on June 9, 2026

One of the most impressive astronomical phenomena of the summer, the Venus-Jupiter conjunction, will be observable from Romania on the evenings of June 9, 10, and 11, 2026.

The peak will occur on June 9, when the two planets will appear extremely close together in the sky, just after sunset. Although Venus and Jupiter are at enormous distances from Earth, they will appear as bright points that are easy to identify.

Observers will be able to see the two planets between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM, when they are higher in the sky. The conjunction is an optical phenomenon, without physical interactions between the planets, and does not require special equipment for observation, being accessible to the general public.

The best places for observation are those with an open horizon to the west.
