At the end of November 2025, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, promulgated a law that allows the funding for the restoration of the Royal Palace in Mamaia and other cultural objectives in the country. The project was adopted in August 2025 and provides for a loan of 140 million euros from the Council of Europe Development Bank, part of a total project of 280 million euros, with a planned implementation over 9 years. The land of the Palace has been transferred to the Ministry of Culture, and the building will enter a rehabilitation process.
The Royal Palace was returned to the Romanian state in 2022, after the court decided that its privatization in 2003 was illegal. Additionally, the Constanța City Hall purchased the courtyard of the Palace for 400,000 euros, after 20 years of legal disputes. The historical monument, with an area of 5,000 square meters, is in an advanced state of degradation, requiring urgent restoration works.
