The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, has promulgated the state budget law for the year 2026

The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, promulgated on Friday the state budget law for the year 2026, which will come into effect immediately after publication in the Official Gazette. Additionally, the law on the state social insurance budget was also promulgated, as well as a decree regarding the ceilings of certain specific indicators within the fiscal-budgetary framework.

Nicușor Dan stated that he will promulgate the state budget law as soon as he receives the reasoning from the Constitutional Court of Romania, which rejected the challenges made by AUR. The CCR confirmed that both laws were adopted in an emergency procedure, and the shortening of parliamentary deadlines does not constitute a violation of the Constitution.

Furthermore, the Court specified that the opinions of the Economic and Social Council are consultative, not mandatory, and that many of AUR's criticisms do not refer to the law on the social insurance budget, but to already existing normative acts.
