The bill L485/2025, which amends the legislation on the prevention and combating of domestic violence, has been voted in the Senate and will be submitted to a decisive vote in the Chamber of Deputies. PNL Deputy Alina Gorghiu, one of the initiators, emphasized the importance of this step for the protection of victims. Local authorities will be required to contact victims within 3 days of issuing the protection order and at least 14 days before its expiration. The project provides for stricter measures for repeat offenders, including protection orders of up to 24 months. Additionally, the courts will mandate psychological counseling for offenders and will verify compliance with the protection order through periodic checks. Violating these measures will be punished with fines ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 lei. Gorghiu stated that she will support this project to ensure the safety of victims.
