The mayor of Miercurea Ciuc, Korodi Attila, announced the ban on the use of Kangal, Caucasian shepherd, and Central Asian shepherd dogs for guarding flocks, due to concerns related to public safety. The decision was made following a recent attack by these dogs, which are considered extremely aggressive and capable of attacking without reason. Korodi emphasized that these breeds are not suited to local grazing conditions and cannot be used near inhabited areas or on pastures frequented by tourists.
The mayor encouraged other local administrations to adopt similar measures to prevent tragedies. Additionally, the grazing regulations have been amended, prohibiting the keeping of dangerous dogs and grazing without authorization. Individuals who observe dogs of these breeds on pastures are advised to notify the Local Police.
