The Pentecost Pilgrimage at Sumuleu Ciuc, the largest Catholic procession in Central and Eastern Europe, attracts thousands of pilgrims from Romania and abroad. Many groups have traveled the route on foot, on horseback, or with organized transport, with the spiritual goal of meeting the Virgin Mary. This year, over 400 pilgrims, including children, have walked the traditional 50-kilometer route, praying and singing. Among the participants is a Canadian from Oradea, who believes that this journey is both a challenge and a profound fulfillment.

Pilgrims have come from various corners, including Mureș, Covasna, and Vojvodina, and the rainy weather did not discourage them. Authorities and Franciscan organizers have prepared the event weeks in advance, closing roads to traffic and ensuring the safety of participants. This year's motto, inspired by Saint Maxim, emphasizes the importance of faith. The opening ceremony will take place on Friday evening, followed by a solemn service on Saturday, celebrated by Bishop Székely János. The pilgrimage, which has been taking place for nearly 460 years, is centered around the miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary in the Franciscan church, a symbol of the protection of the local Catholic community.
