The Control Body of the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, led by Minister Diana Buzoianu, has completed a verification action at the National Administration 'Apele Române' (ANAR), highlighting major deficiencies in organization and control activity. The report showed a significant decrease in the number of inspections, from 10,790 in 2022 to just 3,081 in the first half of 2025, and an increase in warnings to over 63% of the total sanctions. Additionally, the number of inspectors has drastically decreased, indicating a disproportionate concentration of staff in administrative structures.

Minister Buzoianu emphasized the need to reform ANAR, mentioning that inspection structures have been obstructed, and the leadership of the institution has been changed to address these issues. Immediate measures include doubling the number of inspectors and training them to ensure effective inspections. Buzoianu stated that the reform starts immediately, aiming to protect water resources and combat corruption. She will request monthly reports on inspections conducted and sanctions applied, emphasizing that any simulation of control will lead to dismissals.
