The Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, stated in a press conference that the Ministry of National Defense (MApN) will notify the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) following an inspection carried out at the 52nd Engineer Battalion Tisa in Satu Mare, where serious irregularities were identified, such as the illegal occupation of soldier positions, modification of selection criteria to admit rejected candidates, and illegal payments to influence the results of the selections.
Additionally, fictitious activities were found for obtaining financial benefits, the use of military trucks for personal purposes, and illegal logging.
The battalion commander was dismissed, and a significant number of individuals were referred to the DNA for investigations. MApN has decided to organize a new competition for the position of commander and has taken measures to recover the damages.
