The Ministry of Health requested, on Saturday, the activation of measures to reduce medical risks caused by extreme temperatures, considering the red heat warning issued by meteorologists for Sunday and Monday, which affects 16 counties.

Among the requested measures are alerting ambulance crews and supplementing them in areas with a high number of requests, as well as checking the conditions of medical assistance in healthcare units by public health directorates. The ministry recommends the population to follow doctors' advice, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun and strenuous activities.

The red warning will be extended from Monday, with temperatures reaching up to 41°C, and nights will be tropical, with minimums of up to 25°C. The director of ANM, Elena Mateescu, emphasized that these temperatures are approaching absolute records for the month of June, especially affecting the central and northern regions of the country. The heat wave will intensify, reaching its peak at the beginning of next week.
