The Ministry of Energy of Romania has made three proposals for the positions of members in the Supervisory Board of Hidroelectrica, which will be discussed in the AGA meeting on November 20. Among them is Ion Ariton, former Minister of Economy, acquitted in 2018 in the Gala Bute case.
Ariton has not had professional activity since 2021, but he was a member of the Board of Administration of the National Credit Guarantee Fund for SMEs between 2019 and 2021. The other two proposals are Cătălin Vlăduț Popescu, a teacher and engineer, and Emil Merdan, a consultant in the energy field, with extensive experience in energy distribution. Popescu has experience in the design of hydroelectric constructions, while Merdan has held important positions at Electrica. These proposals reflect a combination of political and technical experience in the energy sector.
