The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched a structural reform to increase the efficiency of the institution and to better respond to the needs of citizens.

The reconfiguration process, coordinated by Minister Cătălin Predoiu, will take place in three stages: developing concepts, public consultations, and launching draft normative acts. Among the targeted directions are the integration of dispatch centers, the "e-Sigur" program, the reorganization of the Gendarmerie and the Border Police. Predoiu emphasized that the reform does not aim at staff reductions and that discussions about the retirement age are still preliminary. The project will be completed by December and will be submitted for government approval.
