The Minister of the Environment stated that the lands on the coast have been illegally transferred to private ownership, accusing the complicity of the authorities.

The Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, criticized the situation of the lands in the beach areas, stating that in the last 25 years, illegalities have been committed with the complicity of the authorities, transforming public property into private property. She approved a report highlighting these illegalities and has initiated lawsuits for the reclamation of lands by the Romanian Waters.
Buzoianu emphasized that out of the 2,131 identified properties, 1,033 are in private ownership, and illegal constructions have proliferated. The Minister announced the launch of a project for the delimitation of public domain and the revision of legislation regarding beaches, to prevent unauthorized constructions in the future.
