Nicușor Dan announced that he will organize a referendum in January, addressing a crucial question to the body of magistrates: whether the CSM acts in the public interest or in the interest of a group within the judicial system. He explained that, depending on the magistrates' response, legislative discussions will continue or the CSM will be forced to leave.

Dan has received complaints from hundreds of magistrates who claim that some CSM members and court leaders do not act in the public interest, but for the benefit of a small group. He also emphasized that promotions to the ICCJ have been made based on obedience to this group, not on criteria of professionalism.
