The investigation was initiated following the emergence of images in which the mayor is caught in intimate poses with an employee, a social worker.

The charges against him include rape, sexual assault, public indecency, and violation of privacy. It is alleged that the mayor attempted to undress and kiss the employee, who subsequently went on medical leave. Although Simionca has denied the allegations, claiming that the images were manipulated with the help of artificial intelligence, prosecutors continue their investigations.
