The mayor of Huedin, Mircea Moroșan, has announced his resignation after four consecutive terms and a fifth won in 2024. His decision comes in the context of administrative reforms, which he considers impossible to implement without solid support from the community.
With a victory obtained with only a third of the votes, Moroșan decided that it is not fair to implement unpopular measures without the support of the citizens. During his term, he accomplished important projects, such as bringing in the gas pipeline, developing the water and sewage network, building a wastewater treatment plant, and modernizing the urban area. Vice Mayor Norbert Dezsi will take over the mayoral duties following Moroșan's resignation.
