The manager of the "Sfânta Maria" Hospital in Iași was dismissed after six children died due to an infection with the Serratia Marcescens bacteria.

The dismissal of manager Dr. Cătălina Ionescu took place after six of the nine children hospitalized in the ICU died due to the Serratia Marcescens bacteria. The President of CJ Iași, Costel Alexe, announced that the proposal for the manager position is primary physician Radu Constantin Luca. Following the incident, the unit was closed to eradicate the infection outbreak.
