The Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement celebrated an important victory after successfully eliminating controversial protections for the pesticide industry from the House of Representatives' agricultural bill. The amendment, proposed by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, was approved 280-142, despite pressure from pesticide supporters. MAHA is now warning the Senate not to reintroduce these protections, emphasizing that it could lead to the entire bill being blocked. At the same time, Senator John Boozman stated that he will not include pesticide-related language in his version of the bill due to a lack of bipartisan support. Additionally, Senator Adam Schiff will introduce a series of bills to support specialty crop farmers, while the House of Representatives is preparing to vote on a budget that reduces federal spending on agriculture by 3% by 2027. Democrats are contesting these cuts, arguing that they affect access to healthy food.
