The Harghita Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) announced that on Wednesday, firefighters discovered 82 mortar bombs in the forest of the village of Tușnad Nou, in the commune of Tușnad. The ammunition, of 82 millimeter caliber, is most likely dated from World War II. A pyrotechnic team from ISU intervened on site, using a specialized vehicle for transporting the munitions. The bombs were safely collected and stored for later destruction.
ISU emphasized the importance of reporting the discovery of munitions to 112, prohibiting any touching or transport of these items. The area must be marked and secured until the arrival of specialized teams, and local authorities are obliged to support the intervention and inform the nearby population.
