The Coast Guard announced on Thursday that the crossing of the Danube by ferry between Isaccea (Romania) and Orlivka (Ukraine) has been resumed in stages, starting from Wednesday evening.
“At this moment, the border crossing at the Isaccea - Orlivka Border Crossing Point is taking place without traffic restrictions,” said the Coast Guard.
The crossing point became non-operational on the night from Monday to Tuesday, due to drone attacks by Russia, which led to the suspension of transit. Romanian authorities emphasize that, currently, traffic is flowing smoothly.
Since the beginning of the conflict, the point has been destroyed by drones four times. Isaccea is a preferred transit point, but it often becomes congested, especially in the context of Russian attacks.
Authorities in Tulcea expect an increase in congestion in the coming period, due to the approach of the Jewish New Year.
