Daniel Băluță stated that the works will begin with the design of the Gara de Nord – Eroii Revoluției section, followed by the transition to lot 2, between Eroii Revoluției and Gara Progresul. The Turkish-Bulgarian association Dogus – Trace won the bid for the execution of the first section, after the complaint of another contractor was rejected. The project has a total length of approximately 11 kilometers and a value of over 2 billion euros, with an estimated non-reimbursable funding of 2.5 billion euros.

The works are scheduled to last a maximum of 60 months, with the first eight months dedicated to design. The new line will cross sectors 1, 4, and 5, including the Jilava commune, and will include a modern depot with a park&ride parking lot.
