The Competition Council has launched an investigation into a possible abuse of dominant position by CFR SA

The Competition Council of Romania has announced the opening of an investigation regarding CFR SA, the administrator of the electrified railway infrastructure, to verify possible abuses of dominant position.

The investigation focuses on CFR's behaviors, including the non-implementation of essential investments for the traction power supply system, which could limit access for other suppliers in the market. Unannounced inspections have been carried out at the headquarters of CFR SA and Electrificare CFR SA, authorized by the Bucharest Court of Appeal, to obtain relevant information. The Council emphasizes that these inspections do not constitute a finding of a breach of competition legislation, but are part of the process of clarifying the situation.
