The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced new discussions with the Ministry of Energy about the takeover of ELCEN, in an attempt to eliminate the transfer of responsibilities in the heating system.

The aim is to create a unified SACET Bucharest system that integrates the production, transport, and distribution of heat. The mayor emphasized that this takeover would put an end to the blame game between the Ministry of Energy and the City Hall, considering that the process has been blocked for years.

SACET ensures the supply of thermal energy for households, and a unified management could simplify investments and the modernization of the network.

The mayor mentioned that the Ministry of Energy will evaluate ELCEN's assets, a necessary step for the continuation of the takeover, but warned that the process could be influenced by the future Government. He emphasized that heating should not be a political stake, as the impact is directly felt in the lives of Bucharest residents.
