The Capital City Hall has initiated a public debate regarding a draft resolution aimed at establishing local taxes and fees for the year 2026. The project takes into account an inflation rate of 5.6% for 2024 and increases in the taxable value of buildings. Thus, the taxable value for reinforced concrete buildings will rise from 1,492 lei/square meter in 2025 to 2,677 lei/square meter in 2026, while for wooden buildings, it will increase from 447 lei/square meter to 803 lei/square meter.
Additionally, the tax on agricultural land will increase significantly. The project includes tax reductions for hybrid vehicles with low emissions and bonuses for early tax payments. Local sector councils will have the authority to approve exemptions and reductions for various categories of buildings and vehicles, such as those used for social or cultural purposes. The increase in taxes will be justified by local budgetary needs.
