The budget for 2026 will increase to 8.4 billion lei, compared to 8.09 billion lei in 2025, announced the Bucharest City Hall. The budget project has been put up for public debate and will be presented on April 30 by the general mayor Ciprian Ciucu. According to the mayor's statements, 32% of the budget, that is, 2.7 billion lei, will be allocated for investments in the development of the Capital, a sum double that of the previous year.

For operations, the City Hall proposed 5.7 billion lei, representing 68% of the total, a decrease compared to 84% in 2025. Ciprian Ciucu emphasized that, without subsidies, the budget for investments could reach 50%. The mayor highlighted the need for reforms in the STB and Termoenergetica companies to improve efficiency and reduce production costs.
