The Government approved Metrorex's budget for 2026

The Government has approved Metrorex’s revenue and expenditure budget for 2026. The company estimates total revenue of RON 1.797 billion, down 23.19% from 2025, and expenditure of RON 2.093 billion, down 21.08%. The projected loss is RON 295.5 million.

The state budget subsidy will reach RON 761.49 million, after 10% is withheld from the amount of RON 846.1 million. The figure represents 59.65% of the compensation requirement estimated by Metrorex for 2026, at RON 1.276 billion.

The company estimates increases in revenue from sold production and transport services, amid a rise in passenger numbers. Traffic is expected to increase from 153.27 million passengers in 2025 to approximately 165.5 million in 2026.

Personnel expenses are estimated at RON 1.070 billion, while wage expenses are estimated at RON 973.8 million. RON 1.958 billion has been earmarked for investments, including Metro Line 5, Metro Line 6, the purchase of trains and the extension of Metro Line 4 between Gara de Nord and Gara Progresul.
