The bridge connecting Budești to Crivăț collapsed due to water discharges from the Mihăilești dam, caused by heavy rainfall in the mountainous area. Mayor Mihai Ilie stated that there are no isolated individuals, as there are other access routes and evacuation of residents is not necessary. The Romanian Waters confirmed that large amounts of precipitation have been recorded, generating floods in the watercourses.
The destroyed bridge was a temporary, unauthorized structure that could not withstand the high water flows. Authorities have taken measures to manage the situation, including controlled drainage of water from accumulations. Access to the area is only possible via authorized bridges, and the Romanian Waters continue to monitor the hydrometeorological situation.
