The Capital City Hall announces that the works to secure the Basarab Passage could start in June and are expected to be completed by December 2026, according to a statement issued after the meeting between the general mayor Ciprian Ciucu and the representatives of the builders.

The municipality specifies, however, that the exact deadlines and costs will be established after the design is completed. Used in 2011-2012 without final acceptance, the passage could not be properly maintained, which led to the degradation of several elements, from the rainwater system and joints to elevators and the structural integrity. The interventions will be split between the builder, who will remedy the execution deficiencies, and the city hall, which will cover the degradations that occurred due to lack of maintenance.
