Mayor Sorin Megheșan said that the municipality of Tarnaveni, with 24,000 inhabitants, is in a critical situation due to salt pollution of the river Târnava Mica, which has led to the closure of nurseries, kindergartens and the suspension of the activities of economic agents. Although the government has earmarked funds to support the Praid area, Tarnaveni is suffering severely and the mayor is proposing solutions such as the purchase of a desalination plant or rebuilding the water supply from the Mures river. Domestic water supply has recently been resumed, but the situation remains delicate, with the authorities distributing drinking water.
