The Bucharest Tribunal published the reasoning for its decision which granted the press group Antena 1 a victory in a lawsuit against Sorin Bontea, ordering him to pay the sum of 100,000 euros. The court established that Bontea violated a contractual clause from 2017, which prohibited the promotion of brands without the prior consent of Antena Group. According to the allegations, Bontea made 48 online posts for external products without obtaining the necessary approval.
In his defense, Bontea argued that the term "online materials" is vague and that his posts did not violate the contract; however, the court rejected these arguments, considering that the terms were clearly negotiated. The Tribunal emphasized that limiting freedom of expression through a contract is legal, as long as it is voluntarily assumed. The decision is not final and can be appealed.
