In the Făgăraș Mountains, the snow has reached over one meter at altitudes of over 2,000 meters, which has led to an increased risk of avalanches. The Sibiu County Public Mountain Rescue Service has announced that the avalanche risk is assessed at level four on a scale from one to five. Access to Bâlea Lake can be made via the Transfăgărășan, up to Bâlea Cascadă, from where tourists can take the cable car. The cable car operates from Monday to Sunday, between 09:00 – 17:00, and the cost of a round trip is 160 lei for an adult, with a minimum of 10 people required for operation.
