Six members of a family from the village of Oșlobeni, Neamț County, including three children aged 4, 7, and 9, were taken to hospital after being poisoned by mushrooms picked from a nearby forest. The incident was reported by the Neamț County Ambulance Service.
The parents told doctors that they had used the mushrooms to prepare food at home. A few hours after eating them, all six people, aged between 4 and 70, felt ill and called 112.
The patients were picked up by ambulances staffed by medical assistants and transported to the Emergency Reception Unit of the Piatra-Neamț County Emergency Hospital. They all remained hospitalized for specialized medical care.
Separately, a NASA study shows that some fungi and bacteria could survive for weeks or months in certain shaded areas of the Moon. Researchers warn that microorganisms accidentally transported by people or equipment could contaminate future analyses of lunar soil and ice.
