On December 12, President Nicușor Dan promulgated a law that severely punishes violations of international sanctions imposed by the European Union. The offenses included in this regulatory act target various behaviors, such as making available to designated entities funds or economic resources, failing to comply with their freezing, as well as facilitating the entry into the territory of Romania of individuals subject to sanctions.

Furthermore, continuing transactions with third countries or entities controlled by them, trading in prohibited goods, and providing financial services in contradiction with the sanctions are also considered offenses. The law provides for prison sentences ranging from one to five years for those who violate these regulations, thus emphasizing Romania's commitment to respect and enforce international sanctions.
