Before the reaction of the Romanian institutions, Kelemen Hunor (UDMR) warned that Russia might attempt new acts of sabotage and called on the state to be prepared to protect critical infrastructure and citizens. He cited the fact that, according to the SRI, three foreign citizens (one Ukrainian and two Belarusians) were being investigated for attempting acts of sabotage: two were arrested in Germany, while the third was located in Poland, and the Bucharest Court of Appeal issued European arrest warrants to bring them to Romania.
Separately, the MAI announced the intensification of patrols and security measures at critical infrastructure sites, industrial platforms with a defense profile, major transport routes, and logistics warehouses, amid the DIICOT investigation. The authorities stated that checks are continuing together with the SRI, DIICOT, and the General Directorate of Defense Intelligence, while the public was urged to call 112 if they noticed suspicious persons, unauthorized surveillance, or abandoned packages in sensitive areas.
