Târgu Jiu: Pedestrian injured in an accident caused by a driver under the influence of alcohol

On the night of July 11, around 00:30, on Barajelor Street in Târgu Jiu, a traffic accident occurred between a car driven by a 59-year-old man and a 44-year-old pedestrian.

The pedestrian attempted to cross the street at an unauthorized and improperly marked location, being struck by the vehicle. As a result of the impact, he sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical care. The driver was tested with a breathalyzer, the result indicating a concentration of 1.05 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air, which is why he was taken to a medical unit for biological sample collection.

The police opened a criminal case for bodily harm due to negligence and driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. After the evidence was administered, the man was detained for 24 hours and placed in the Preventive Detention and Arrest Center of IPJ Gorj.
