A pedestrian from Craiova was detained after assaulting the driver who had slightly hit him at a pedestrian crossing

A 44-year-old man from Craiova was detained for 24 hours after allegedly assaulting the driver of a car that had slightly hit him while he was crossing at a pedestrian crossing. The incident took place on Oltenia Boulevard, at the intersection with Tineretului Boulevard, and the pedestrian was not injured.

Dolj police were alerted by the 53-year-old driver, who reported being assaulted while he was in traffic. According to investigators, after the collision, which caused no injuries, the pedestrian allegedly punched one of the car’s windows. The two allegedly exchanged insults, and the conflict escalated. Subsequently, the 44-year-old man allegedly hit the driver.

Police officers who arrived at the scene began investigating, and the suspect was detained for assault or other violence and disturbing public order and peace. At the end of the detention period, prosecutors are expected to decide on the appropriate measures.
