The police in Mehedinți is conducting 21 searches in a case of fraud involving disability certificates.

The police and prosecutors from Mehedinți County are conducting 21 searches on Thursday in a case concerning forgery, falsification of official documents, and use of forgery. A 39-year-old woman from the commune of Șimian is suspected of having falsified medical documents for 23 individuals since 2019, which were used to obtain disability certificates from D.G.A.S.P.C. Mehedinți.

The investigation began after employees of the institution reported suspicions regarding the documents submitted by two individuals last year. Following the investigations, it was established that the forged documents led to the issuance of disability certificates, and the beneficiaries received undue allowances totaling 1,384,891 lei. The police executed 21 summonses, and the individuals involved are being taken to the I.P.J. Mehedinți headquarters for questioning. The actions were supported by the Special Actions Service and the gendarmes from the county.
