Searches in several counties for suspects who were purchasing cars with counterfeit euros

The police officers of the Bacău Organized Crime Fighting Brigade conducted, on Monday, home searches in the municipality of Bucharest and in the counties of Vrancea, Neamț, Galați, and Iași, targeting five individuals suspected of purchasing vehicles using counterfeit euros.

The action aimed to prove the criminal activity, having identified 13,100 counterfeit euros, equivalent to 262 banknotes of 50 euros each. Following the searches, goods and relevant documents for the case were seized. Five suspects were brought in for questioning, and the Onești Court ordered house arrest for two of them and judicial control for the others.

The action was coordinated by prosecutors from the Onești Court Prosecutor's Office, benefiting from the support of police officers from several counties and gendarmes. Investigations continue within a criminal case for counterfeiting currency and fraud.
