The insurance market in Romania has traditionally been marked by events that are not exactly pleasant for clients and providers, who are obliged to conclude RCA insurance, otherwise they risk a fine.
Not only have there been several major bankruptcies, but there have been tens of thousands of situations in which insurers have only partially paid the damage, if they have paid it at all. For those affected by these situations, as well as for all clients in the non-banking financial markets (insurance, capital market, private pensions), there is a very useful tool: the entity for amicable resolution of conflicts between consumers and non-banking financial service providers, namely SAL-Fin.
For those less familiar with this mechanism, SAL-Fin is the only alternative dispute resolution entity in the areas where A.S.F. has competence through which the possibility of extrajudicial resolution of a dispute arising in the contractual relationship between a consumer and a merchant who unjustifiably refuses or delays the amicable resolution of a problem has been regulated.
In the 10 years of activity since the establishment of SAL-Fin, over 4,100 disputes have been resolved from 8,000 requests received, and the value of the additional amounts received by consumers compared to the initial offers of non-banking financial service providers amounts to 21 million lei.
