Iulian Chifu, an expert in security and international relations, stated for Europa FM that the crash of a Russian drone in Galați constitutes a direct aggression against Romania. He emphasizes that Romania needs to strengthen its defense capabilities, considering that Russian drones operate in proximity to national territory. Chifu suggests that Romania should communicate a consultation within the North Atlantic Council based on Article 4, which addresses aggression and the necessary interventions.

The expert recommends building anti-drone defenses and transferring know-how from Ukraine, with which Romania has a strategic partnership. He also proposes obtaining agreements with neighboring states to shoot down drones before they enter Romanian airspace, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in this context.
