Rompetrol Rafinare announces the modernization of five tanks at the Petromidia Refinery

In 2026, Rompetrol Rafinare is carrying out a rehabilitation and modernization program for five tanks at the Petromidia refinery, with the projects at various stages of execution. The investments aim to increase the reliability and safety of the infrastructure, as well as improve operational flows. The company estimates that the program will increase storage capacity for raw materials and petroleum products by 20%.

One of the projects has already been completed and involved rebuilding a distillate tank used in the production of diesel fuel. Its capacity increased from 5,000 to 6,000 cubic meters following measurements and technical assessments, the dismantling of the old structure, and the construction of a new tank equipped with modern safety systems.

As part of the same program, a gasoline tank will be expanded from 5,000 to 6,000 cubic meters, while two tanks for diesel fuel and components will each increase from 10,000 to 12,000 cubic meters. At the same time, a 57,000-cubic-meter crude oil tank is being modernized.

Since 2007, Rompetrol Rafinare has rehabilitated and modernized more than 60 tanks at the Petromidia and Vega refineries. In the first half of 2026, Petromidia processed nearly 2.6 million tonnes of raw materials and produced approximately 2.1 million tonnes of fuels.״,
