The management of Rompetrol Energy announced that the cogeneration plant on the Petromidia platform has been successfully tested for operation in island mode, without energy from the National Energy System (SEN), in the event of a blackout. It can support industrial producers, including in the field of renewable energy, and provide direct support to the Petromidia refinery.
Recent exercises, coordinated by Transelectrica and other partners, have confirmed the essential role of the plant in energy stability in Dobrogea. General Director Boris Bucur emphasized the importance of this production capacity for the uninterrupted supply of critical industrial consumers.
The plant, with an installed capacity of approximately 80 MWh and a capacity to supply 180 tons of steam per hour, is integrated with the refinery and SEN, having the option to direct surplus energy into the grid. This represents a strategic project for the national energy infrastructure.
