Context: Romania has accelerated the connection and testing of new energy capacities, while ANRE investigates delays in testing
Before synchronizing the Mintia turbine with the National Power System, the authorities announced successive stages for commissioning new capacities. At Mintia, the first gas turbine was started for the first time using natural gas, with testing, synchronization with the grid, and delivery of the first megawatts to follow.
At the same time, other additions to the National Power System were reported: two state-of-the-art power plants in Constanța and Arad were connected to the grid, while commissioning was expected through testing in the following months, for operation during the cold season. There were also announcements regarding the resumption of work at the Iernut thermal power plant, with completion estimated by the end of 2026 and testing scheduled to begin during the winter.
At the same time, ANRE announced inspections of distributors regarding delays in issuing connection certificates and granting commercial authorization for new capacities, flagging testing periods considered “unusually long”.
