Romgaz announced a principle agreement with Azomureș for the takeover of operational activities

The executive management of Romgaz has informed shareholders and investors about a preliminary agreement with Azomureș regarding the acquisition of its operational activity through a business transfer.

Romgaz, controlled by the Romanian state and listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, holds a significant share of the national gas production. The agreement reflects the understanding of the main elements of the transaction, including the price and its structure. The parties will continue negotiations for signing the contract, estimating its completion by the end of May 2026. The announcement comes after a period of deadlock in discussions, and Romgaz considers the acquisition of Azomureș part of its diversification strategy.

Azomureș is the largest producer of chemical fertilizers in Romania and an important consumer of gas. The industrial platform in Târgu Mureș includes facilities for the production of various fertilizers and industrial products.
