A new contingent of 40 Romanian firefighters will leave for France on Wednesday to continue the mission of extinguishing forest fires.

A new contingent of 40 Romanian firefighters will leave on Wednesday, August 1, for France, to continue the mission of combating forest fires, according to the announcement from the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).

This decision was adopted by the National Committee for Emergency Situations (CNSU) on July 27, following a request from the French authorities. Romania is thus extending its participation in the mission to support the extinguishing of vegetation fires in the French Republic for another two weeks.

The intervention technique of the Romanian module is already deployed in the Var Department, and the new contingent will take over the equipment and assigned missions, ensuring the continuity of operations. Romanian firefighters will remain prepared to intervene until mid-August, reaffirming Romania's commitment to European solidarity in civil protection.

The mission is carried out under the coordination of the Department for Emergency Situations, through IGSU, within the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
