According to Eurostat data, Romania ranks second to last in the European Union regarding young people aged between 16 and 24 who possess at least basic digital skills, with a percentage of only 53.3%. At the EU level, 74.6% of young people have these skills, with Denmark leading at 92.1% of young people being digitally prepared. The Czech Republic and Malta follow with 91.7% and 91.5%. Only Bulgaria, at 52.8%, has a lower percentage than Romania.
Additionally, the data shows that girls have a higher share in digital skills, 75.9% compared to 73.3% for boys. In Romania, the difference is 4 percentage points, with 55.1% of girls having digital skills compared to 51.1% of boys. This situation highlights the need for measures to improve digital education among Romanian youth.
