At the informal meeting of the environment ministers of the European Union, held in Cyprus, the Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Diana Buzoianu, highlighted the importance of allocating specific funds for water-related projects in the future Multiannual Financial Framework 2028-2034. Investments must focus on sustainable water management, research, innovation, and digitalization. Buzoianu emphasized the need to support Romania's efforts in implementing the Package on the Integrated Framework for Climate Resilience and the Strategy for Water Resilience.

Additionally, Romania supports the development of the Circular Economy Act, considering it essential for access to resources and competitiveness. During the meeting, Buzoianu presented the implementation of the Deposit-Return System (DRS) as a successful example in packaging recycling. The minister invited the ministers to participate in the European Conference on DRS, scheduled for March 18, 2026, in Bucharest, emphasizing the importance of European collaboration in the field of climate resilience and the circular economy.
