Oana Zoiu informed NATO allies about the incident with the destroyed maritime drone near Neptun Deep

Oana Ţoiu, interim Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that she informed NATO allies about the incident with the maritime drone found in the Black Sea, approximately 80 nautical miles from the Neptun Deep platform.

According to discussions with Ukrainian officials, they claim that the object loaded with explosives does not belong to them. The Ministry of National Defense confirmed that, through direct communication with Ukraine, it was established that the drone is not of Ukrainian origin.

Oana Ţoiu emphasized that, although the incident did not occur in Romania's territorial waters, regional allies have expanded cooperation in the Black Sea to include mine clearance operations and the protection of maritime infrastructures.

Additionally, Romania has proposed to EU institutions a Maritime Security Hub in the Black Sea, with a headquarters in Constanța, following discussions with allied partners.
